Sonder Building

Located in the heart of Milan on Corso di Porta Romana, the Sonder Building is a luxury accommodation facility born from the redevelopment of the former Lloyd Hotel. The project, led by Angus Fiori Architects, resulted in a modern LEED Gold-certified building housing 38 suites and apartments managed by Sonder. Ariostea’s high-tech ceramic solutions played a key role in the renovation, chosen by the architectural firm for their ability to blend design, high performance and sustainability.
The selected materials fulfilled a wide range of functional and aesthetic requirements across the various spaces.

In the lobby and commercial areas, Ultra Marmi Grey Marble slabs define the space with their elegant presence, while providing the wear resistance and easy maintenance required in high-traffic environments.

Special attention was given to the bathroom, where comfort and design are directly perceived by guests. Ariostea’s ceramic surfaces bring architect Fiori’s vision to life, engaging in a dialogue between contemporary style and references to local tradition. Ultra Pietra Basaltina was chosen for the walls due to its refined graphic texture and superior technical performance.

On the floors, Accademia Full Body3 porcelain stoneware in the Bellini and Tiepolo colour variants reinterprets the classic Venetian terrazzo, evoking the understated luxury of noble palazzos.

Across all areas, Ariostea’s technical ceramics deliver essential qualities for the hospitality industry, including water resistance, resistance to stains and chemicals, hygiene and easy maintenance—ensuring lasting beauty, functionality and durability.
